Sarasota, Bench and Bag

I have used a misleading title deliberately. Labels are used to direct attention and I don’t
want to do that. I would prefer for you study this picture and notice what you see. And what you don’t see. Besides, I don’t have a good title or else I would have used it.
This photo was taken in downtown Sarasota, outside a supermarket - a reminder that interesting photo ops can be found in mundane neighborhood locations.
What first caught my attention were her legs, then the tattoo, then her sandals, then the legs of the bench, then the seat and armrest of the bench, then the clean simple background and finally the color match between bag and bench. Curves, color, space – all are harmoniously blended into a whole.
Why is this important? Not 100 yards away, is the Saturday Farmers Market. It’s sunny, hot, noisy, crowded with happy blended in with locals. It’s a mostly happy scene but being in Florida, there are also a smattering of right-wing, red-capped protestors. For me, this photograph represents a little island of peace, harmony, civility and good taste; an escape from the world we mostly live in.
